256MB or 512MB graphics card?

Hey all, i plan on putting together a computer this summer and am looking to spend about $1600 on the works (monitor and all). I want to know what kind of graphics card to get. I want to be able to play some good FPS on my computer. Looking to get by on $250 or less for a vid card, and need some help. Thinking about getting this one, but not sure

Any suggestions?

The 1650pro is garbage, especially at that price.

I would suggest nothing lower than a Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb.

first of all, go to newegg.com, they have awesome prices on computer parts, especially if you are building one from scratch. i just built one of my own, and for the tower, spent about $500 for a computer that would sell for $1000 retail, easy. on your question, why not spend the extra $50 or so for something that you will not regret buying? you can always enjoy a good graphics card, but if you get a less-than decent one, you'll regret it.

For the same money get at least the 512MB, I'd go bigger. Don't cut yourself short. I have a 1G %26amp; there is plenty of room for more graphics. Are you going with GForce, or something? Remember if your saving lots of pictures go big. There will be a ton of graphics on your computer just from the manufacturer %26amp; it'll take a ton of time figuring where they go to. That means trying to figure which ones can be deleted %26amp; really will not mess anything up, like programs.

I will 3rd the 8800GTS. I recently bought one and could not be happier. I did not want to spend the money on a GTX and thought this was a great alternative. Depending on when you get the components it may be in your price range by then. Now you will be spending mid 300's to mid 400's on one. This is one great card.
