What kind of graphics do I need for Sims 2?

I am planning on getting a new computer, and I want to buy sims 2 to go along with it. So I have been looking online and I've noticed the most PCs at bestbuy etc. come equiped with NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics and I was wondering if this is enough to make sims 2 run nice and smoothly. I need help asap!!!

What kind of graphics do I need for Sims 2?

yeah its enough, sims2 is an old game and it runs good even with 5200FX so youre gonna be fine with 6150SE anyway i recommend you get a better VGA cause youre gonna have problems with other games or some heavy applications

Need help with graphics CARDS!?!?

Im planning to buy a new graphics card, yet i focused on 2 cards. On is the Radeon X1300 256mb and the Geforce 7600 512mb. Im willing to spend on both, but a bit cheaper would be nice. Is the Geforce really worth the extra buck then the x1300. Btw their agp.

Need help with graphics CARDS!?!?

I bought a x1300 and had to keep all settings on low to say the least.I repair computers for a living and ati cards run to hot and are not driver friendly.I took back the x1300 and bought a 7800gs o.c. and can play any game on high settings. You will be disappointed if you do buy the x1300 and even though the x1950 is the fastest agp out there I would not trade in my card.I thought about it but I read the reviews and 3Mark benchmarking doesn't lie.GDDR3 is a big difference over GDDR2.It is not so much the amount of ram but the core speed and mem speed.Good luck

Need help with graphics CARDS!?!?

I've owned both ATI ( Radeon ) %26amp; Nvidia ( Geforce ) cards %26amp; I can honestly say I've had better luck with ATI. Here's a link for you. As you can see you can get a 512 m X1650 for about the same price as the 7600. Some will argue but it is a better card.

Some what cheap graphics card?

From what i heard my computer is decent , And i was going to upgrade my card , to and nvidia 7600gs , i believe it was.. Is that good?

From what I Heard Nvidia is much better than ATI.

The most im willing to spend would be about 140$

Current games I Play are about PlanetSide.

And i might try out Star Wars Galaxies , And warrock

Will I Be able to play those games on MAX settings with no lag or barely any at all with a graphics card in the 100-140$ price range?

Some what cheap graphics card?

It depends on the game. The 7600GS is a mid-range video card and should play all games. At max settings though, not likely. You would want the 7900 or higher.. or the ATI equivilent

Some what cheap graphics card?

Check newegg.com and sort by price and find the one with the best reviews

Some what cheap graphics card?

Nvidia is definitely better than ATI. If you have the ability to purchase a refurbished one, I would go that route. Fry's Electronics (if you have on in your area) has them for virtually nothing. Also, try googling refurbished computer hardware. I did it with several key pieces in my computer and have had no problems.

Some what cheap graphics card?

Nvidia is no better than ATI, this is all a matter of opinion. You should get the card that has the best performance at the price you are looking at. A $100-$140 card will play those games at high settings, but probably not max settings. As for a specific card, you did not specify PCI Express or AGP, so I can't give you a specific one, the 7600GS is good, although if I knew which interface I could probably recommend something better. Email me with that info and I can be of more assistance.

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

I have a Sony Laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon for it's Graphics card, and I was wondering if there was anyway to use an external solution for a better graphics card. I've heard there are some PCI slot cards or something, but really I don't know too much about them. Thanks in advance.

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

Hi there, unless your system comes with the discrete card on the board, such as a lot of Dell systems do, then you couldn't upgrade the Video that way (which you already know). As for PCMCIA cards, I know of Video Capture cards for camera's and such, I'm just not aware of any graphic solutions for portables (and couldn't find anything on google).

A PCI video card is only for desktop systems.

Sorry, wish there was better news, Good Luck!

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

Generally you cannot upgrade the graphics card on a laptop. It's built-in to the motherboard.

Desktops have PCI slots. Laptops do not.

Sorry.

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

Citizen is correct. However, just to add to his answer: Some of the very high end boutique laptops, like Alienware, have separate video modules. However, those are built specificly for those models, and would not fit in anything else. The truth is, Alienware didn't make them, it's made somewhere in Taiwan and Alienware just put their name on it. Same laptop could show up in a different name elsewhere.

Looking for new Graphics card need help?

I have a Geforce 6100 nvidia card i want a new card and i know that i if i upgrade to a 8600 or something i would need more power for my Computer. But what is PCI mean it says that on my computer "PCI express slot avaliable" and what else should i know before buying my first graphics card?

Looking for new Graphics card need help?

The power supply for your computer has to provide power to all the different internal parts. The most powerful the video card the more electricity (power) it will need from the power supply.

To actually work for your computer it has to be able to connect on the inside. Video cards hook up in one of 3 ways. 1) PCI which is a very old standard. 2) AGP which is a newer but still outdated standard. 3) PCI-e which is the current standard. All 3 have a different shape slot so if your motherboard has an AGP slot no other one will fit.

The 8600 does require a fair amount of power but if power from the power supply is a problem perhaps you should look at the 8400. The 8400 will still outshine the 6100 in a huge way and only requires a 300 Watt power supply on your computer.

But you 1st have to know if your motherboard is AGP or PCI-e. Easiest to do if you have the manual.

If you have AGP then none of the 8000 series boards will fit and you will be stuck with a 7600 or 7800/7900 as best boards you can use.

Looking for new Graphics card need help?

You have a PCI-E slot, which means your computer will support all 8x00 cards. Also, make sure you have enough juice for the cards. You'll need 2 PCI-E 6 pin power connectors for the 8800s, 1 for the 8600GTS (and GT, maybe). Have fun.

Overclocking an intel graphics chip?

Is it at al possible to overclock an Intel 82845g intergrated graphics controller? if so how can i do it?

-thank you

Overclocking an intel graphics chip?

Ive never heard of people really overclocking a integrated Intel graphics. So its probably will be hard to find people who do.

Overclocking an intel graphics chip?

well, first you have to find out how much memory and your clocked speeds are for it. Then ry a google search with like *overclocking integrated video* .

Is A DDR2 Graphics Card Compatible with DDR3 RAM?

So I purchased a Diamond Radeon HD 2600 Pro Video Card. It fits in my motherboard (Intel DX38BT Motherboard)... BUT I don't know if the Graphics card will run on DDR3 RAM.

Is A DDR2 Graphics Card Compatible with DDR3 RAM?

There shouldn't be any memory compatibility problems in this case, the DDR2 memory is located on the video card and is what the video card is using to form graphics, the DDR3 on your motherboard is for the rest of the system and applications to use.

Like the poster above indicated, your big point of compatibility for the video card will be if you bought the right slot type for your system. (AGP or PCI-e, or what you need)

Is A DDR2 Graphics Card Compatible with DDR3 RAM?

Yes. The only thing you need to worry about is AGP/PCI express compatibility.

Is A DDR2 Graphics Card Compatible with DDR3 RAM?

Abit of an unbalanced system, bottom-end graphics card with high-end mobo =P ddr3 is a waste for CPUs IMO (huge price premium for almost no advantage), but gddr3 is much better than ddr2 on gfx cards. and yes it'll work fine because the RAM for the CPU, and for the GPU are independant.

Is A DDR2 Graphics Card Compatible with DDR3 RAM?

Video card technology means little as long as the slot is the right one. the big concern is power supply as long as u're power supply CPU and RAM will support it, then no problem.

Is A DDR2 Graphics Card Compatible with DDR3 RAM?

lol ram doesnt have anything to do with video card compatability...

Windows.h and graphics.h?

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

I have a Radeon 9500 graphics card that had been installed in my eMachines computer since December. Recently, the card just stopped working. There was no signal being sent to my monitor. I opened up my computer and took it out to get a look at it. There is a ton of dust built up on/in the fan. Will simply clearing the dust out with an air can make it work again? Will I have to buy a new fan? Or is the card just toast? Thanks

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

Hi there:

FIRST *** Thank you SOOooo much for providing some really great information that makes helping you " to the point" instead of a guessing game...

It was a good thing that you looked at the card and now can clean the fan and heatsink - please do this with the power supply and all other fans in the case while you are at it - it will prevent future failures.

Now - to the video... With the video, there are really a number of things you should check, so, here we go...

Get another video card - any video like a cheapo used 2 meg PCI card in the old bin at a computer repair bin for $3 bucks, and

plug it in to make certain that the MONITOR is not your problem - how else would you know?? The cheapo card should at least come on to the DOS BIOS setup screen if nothing else, and allow you to regain control of the computer...

Also, you run into tanother AGP/ PCI problem in that sometimes the BIOS setting is BOOT TO AGP FIRST,

so that you STILL might not see anything, so that... you need

either another CHEAPO AGP card, again a 2 or 4 MEG old card, maybe $5 from a " used " bin... or try removing the AGP card when you boot from the PCI - the BIOS on the motherboard, " MAY" find no AGP , and then re-direct to PCI, but not always..

Finally, you need to asses whether another MONITOR would work. Take the tower to a friend's or borrow a nearby MONITOR

as a final check if none of the above will give you a BIOS screen.

ALSO, in the case of a DUAL output Video card, some makes and revisions only boot on ONE monitor plug - which one are you plugged into? ( if there are 2 )

Then, once you are booted to a startup BIOS screen, with a cheapo, working PCI or AGP card, and a known working MONITOR, then you can start to assess what the AGP 9500

problem might be. There are many BIOS settings, that you can try. You can take the AGP 9500 and try it in another computer - say take it to a repair/ parts/ builder local store, and ask them to throw it in a machine to see if it boots to BIOS. If it does, ok...

If it does not boot to default DOS, VGA, low res. you are probably in trouble with the card...

THEN

You have to assess whether or not the FLASH programming on the video chipset has been corrupted - on most new Video cards, you can RE-Program the card itself with a FLASH program, just like the BIOS on the main motherboard - was this flash corrupted?

You would have to boot from a PCI ( check the BIOS, boot from ____ video first ), and then use a download from the web , in a running computer, to re-flash ( the upgrade ) the video card itself.

(check the website of the radeon to see if this is a feature available on your card - if the 9500 is a card made by another manufacturer, you have to go to THAT website first... )

Make certain BEFORE you put the card in any machine that the fan, although now " clean " is actually turning. I have run into a LOT of fans where one of the two coil sets is completely burnt out, and the fan will either not start at all ( it will run SLOW if you start it ) or, it may start at random, every 5 or 6 times, and run, but be so slow that it does not cool anything...

After switching Video cards, Monitors, and Computers to test the unit, and then trying FLASHING the Video chips, you will probably

know whether or not there is any hope left....

OR1234 above has a really good suggestion as well, in the

power supply upgrade on the unit, if you put in a high end card

or get your old one going - check the total WATTAGE of the

power supply on the computer's power supply while you have the case open. Higher end units today have a reliable brand name like ANTEC etc. runing at 600 to 800 WATTS total output.

The card still could be good !

good luck - it is a nice card

robin

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

A good cleaning and reseating it might fix the problem..

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

Most likely you'll need a new card, but you can try blowing the dust out of the fan first. If the fan was not working efficiently, you could have fried the card.

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

your computer probably got fried in a storm and it just affected you graphics card

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

start with a cleaning then I would reboot the computer completely maybe a file got messed up. I had a modum that done that. They should last longer then a year. does it have a warrenty?

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

sounds like the card is fried had one of them till about three months back allways used nvidia before i got that one gone back to nvidia with new one......

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

try blowing out the dust, etc.and try again. if that doesn't work, and your motherboard has integrated graphics (which most emachines do) try plugging your monitor into that port. sometimes, especially on nonsurge protected machines, when a power blip or similar event happens, the motherboard can reset all BIOS and CMOS settings, thus would cause the signal to be sent, not to your card, but to the integrated port. you may need to change it back. if THAT doesn't work, try putting the card in another machine, and trying it there. should it not work then, then it is definatly the card and not a software, etc issue. likely, a pwer sureg, lightning strike, etc. fried the chip and wont produce a signal. if its still under warranty (probably not) youll need a new card. assuming youre on AGP (due to the age of the card) i would reccomend either a 6600gt or a 6800xt. theyre both very good cards that run excellently.

Hope this helps!

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

It might work again if your clean it up, but more likely all that dust has made it run so hot it burned up. All the high-performance video boards produce a lot of heat, which is why they all have their own fans. Screw the fan up = Burn the board up.

It might also be that your power supply has failed. E-machines, like most others, installs a power supply that is barely adequate for the original setup. If you add a power hungry board to it, you may pull the voltages down to where performance is marginal. Granted, if it worked for 8 months, this is not the most likely case. If it were mine and I had to replace the video board, I'd install a better, higher-capacity PS too.

Why has my graphics card suddenly stopped working?

Try cleaning the fan first. If it is not working, then get a new fan. Then, after you get the new fan and still not working, I am 80% sure that your Video card is toasted.

If you have a directx 10 graphics card can you play directx 9 games?

I am getting a new computer and I'm wondering if you have a directx 10 graphics card can you play directx 9 games?

And is it worth it to get a directx 10 graphics card if you cant?

If you have a directx 10 graphics card can you play directx 9 games?

Microsoft has decided that backward compatibly with DirectX 9,8,7 isn't really necessary as there will probably will be even less compatible with Vista.

Even so, dear Microsoft hasn't totally forgotten us. Some sort of 閳ユ竷ompatibility閳?will be available through a software layer (probably some emulation) which will have its price in system resources, as it will run much slower. The good news is that DirectX 10 will relieve some of the burden on the CPU.

And of course it will have support for the next generation of Pixel Shaders 4.0, although it will probably surface before even Vista's release due to the rapid development of graphic cards.

If you have a directx 10 graphics card can you play directx 9 games?

yes you can play DX9 games and all previous games that run on DX. yes it is worth it to get the DX10 grpahics card because the newer games will run on DX10(Halo 2 Vista for example).

If you have a directx 10 graphics card can you play directx 9 games?

I would think so. But if you have a 9, then you can't play the Ten. Sounds like a card game.

What can this graphics card do?

It is a Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. I don't wanna here about how Intel is crap, I know it is, but can you give me some kind of idea about the kind of games I can play on it. (I have 2GB Ram and a 1.5Ghz duo 2MB Cache processor)

What can this graphics card do?

well it is direct x 10 capable but it is still an integrated graphics chipset. You will only be able to play casual games on it. Anything else will lag or possibly even have horrible lag

What can this graphics card do?

well, athough support directx10m but what do you expexct from onboard graphic card???well, it still can be used to play light games like tycoon series, and the sims 2 i think, but dont hope you can turn on all graphic option

What can this graphics card do?

you could pretty much run all the free mmorpg games like flyff, rakion, gunbound, CS, war rock!

Is the S3 Graphics Prosavage DDR Video Card T&L Compatible?

I can't find it on the s3 graphics site, but I do think that the card is no longer supported by the company. If it isn't, could someone please tell me a good recommendation for a good card that is? It will be used for pc gaming.

Is the S3 Graphics Prosavage DDR Video Card T%26amp;L Compatible?

No, S3 cards are not T%26amp;L Compatible. Many on-board video cards are not T%26amp;L Compatible.

If you're trying to get a gaming card, try www.tomshardware.com for benchmarks for video cards. Then you have to know what type of slot you have (PCI-E, AGP, or plain PCI only).

Can i add Graphics to a laptop?

hi just wont to know if i can add Graphics to a laptop

Can i add Graphics to a laptop?

no, they all come with onboards graphics, although the chipsets used vary and are similar to the names of graphic cards for desktops. my missus bought one about 6 mths ago and it had ati x200 on board in it.

Can i add Graphics to a laptop?

It depends on the laptop. Many have integrated graphics that are built into the motherboard, so this isn't an option.

I'd suggest downloading the documentation for your laptop from the website of it's manufacturer. If it's supported, they should (hopefully) mention this.

Can i add Graphics to a laptop?

Can you refine you question to a more understandable way?

If you meant adding/replacing a graphic card, you have to check with your computer manufacturer for computer specs. In addition, graphic cards for laptops are hard to find, so I suggest you get a new laptop.

If you meant adding graphics as in pictures, then just copy and paste it into your computer directly. Unless you are using a mac(which is a harder issue), then you have to open each picture and use the "Save As..." option to save each file individually.

Can i add Graphics to a laptop?

yes u can

Can i add Graphics to a laptop?

yes and no peter

theres two answers to this, first there is a technology manufactured by nvidia called mxm or Mobile PCI Express Module

basically this is a add-on module that slips into a slot, very similar to the way you would upgrade your laptops memory, and the idea was that you could upgrade your onboard nvidia 6150 for example and add a geforce 7600gs module and once you have disabled the onboard graphics you could use the new mxm chip

however the cost of manufacturing these chips put the price of them around 4 times the price of a standard pci-express card so not many users wanted to buy them, and also not all laptops were compatible

so this leads me on to the answer "no",most laptops made today cannot be upgraded simply because the size of the laptop makes this difficult and because a graphics adapter is built on to the actual laptops mainboard, for example in a desktop a radeon x1300 would be sloted into a agp or pci-express slot and drivers installed

the x1300 in a laptop is soldered on to the mainboard in the laptops case, this is basically similar in design to the x1300 card however in the case of the laptop the gpu has been designed to be fitted in a laptop

finally there is another option open to you, although its not much good,a usb graphics adpater like the IOGear USB 2.0 External Video Card (http://www.everythingusb.com/iogear_usb_...

this is a graphics adapter that can fit in a usb2.0 port and will support resolutions up to 1680 x 1050

I cant see imbedded photos and graphics that friends in groups post. they all discuss pics I cant see?

It should just come to your email. Check your preferences and see if you are set up to receive pictures (maybe you have it turned off).

I'm in several groups and don't have any problem receiving pic or other images.

To insert them, from your email, just add attachments.

How do I disable my intergrated graphics chip?

Im upgrading my computer and I just ordered my new graphics card. But I need to know how to disable my intergrated graphics before it gets here. Does anyone know how to do this. Please if you do please tell. Thank you.

How do I disable my intergrated graphics chip?

Butchell is right. Modern motherboards disable the onboard integrated graphics when it detects a video card either on AGP or PCI Express. I just did an install on my machine 2 days ago and I just plugged in my graphics card on the NForce motherboard and the onboard graphics disabled itself without me doing anything.

In fact you won't even find it in device manager because this is done on BIOS level and Windows will not see the device at all. Just proceed at this point as though you are installing a new hardware and you are set.

If your motherboard doesn't do this automatically then you do need to disable it in BIOS or else during the bootup process, long before Windows driver and etc even come into play, you might not get video from the new video card that you installed.

It's really simple. It took me about 3 minutes to do the install.

"Just go to your add/remove programs menu and uninstall your card. You don't have to go into BIOS because, if you have Window's XP, it will disable the card in BIOS as soon as the card is uninstalled, including the drivers." WRONG!!

BTW "Add/Remove Programs" is used to uninstall drivers and programs. Typically, Windows XP will not load drivers for devices not detected or reported by the BIOS. That is why when you physically take out a video card, the driver won't give you an error saying that it couldn't find it, while loading itself. When it doesn't find it, it simply does not load the driver at all. (Miracle of Plug and Pray!) This is why you won't find the driver for the integrated video card when it is disabled by the motherboard. The copy of the driver is in your computer but Windows XP does not load it because it won't detect the hardware.

Addendum: While I do not think it's so wise to upgrade any system that does not have at least an AGP card, considering new entry level systems can be purchased for about $200-$300, using a PCI or AGP or PCI-Express shouldn't make a difference. If your BIOS detects and it has a function to disable onboard it will disable it. If not then you will have to disable it in BIOS manually and choose a setting to check the PCI for video graphics.

How do I disable my intergrated graphics chip?

you have to go into the bios to do that. go through the menus until you find the menu to disable the video

How do I disable my intergrated graphics chip?

How do I disable my intergrated graphics chip?

Actually, neither of the answers above me is correct. I've done this same thing for more than one of my friends who had bought pre-built computers. What you'll want to do is leave it just like it is now, until after you've installed the new video card, and the driver for the new card.

Then, all you'll have to do is disable it in Windows. Here's how to do that:

Right-click on My Computer, then select "Properties" from the box that will drop down. Now, click on the "Hardware" tab, then click on "Device Manager" (under Device Manager!), and under "Display Adapters" (you'll have to click on the little "+" sign to the left of it), right-click the one that isn't related to your new card, and select "Disable".

If you select "Remove", then you'll have to do all of that every time you turn on the computer, since it isn't a card that can actually be removed, and Windows already has the driver for it. Selecting "Disable" let's Windows know that you know it's there, but you don't wish to use it, for now.

I'd like to upgrade my graphics card.?

I have a dell 6400 (I think) with ATI X1300 128mb graphics card. I'd like to upgrade to a 256 or maybe even a 512 but have very limited knowledge on graphics cards. Help?

I'd like to upgrade my graphics card.?

I belive the Dell 6400 Inspiron is a Notebook. I believe the video cards are not upgradable. If you are in fact using a laptop, you can access the BIOS and increase the shared memory usage of your video card manually. However, you must have enough system RAM left to still run your operating system.

I'd like to upgrade my graphics card.?

As far as I know video cards on laptops can't be upgraded, with the exception of a few high end gaming machines.

I want to know what the graphics industry would call such a graphic and how to make my own.?

I am trying to enhance my college club by creating a marketing campaign. I would like to make the advertisements very appealing because the cause for our club is very valuable. I want to know what the graphics industry calls this type of graphics and if you know where I could learn to make my own images in this fashion. The appealing this is the use of colors to create a 'glass' like feel and I would like to replicate this effect. The images can be found on the following links (I apologize if I am not allowed to give these links, I do not wish to infringe on any copyrights or registered trademarks, I just want to learn):

Which system has better more realistic graphics xbox 360 or ps3?

i want to get resident evil 5, grandtheft auto 4, halo 3, metal gearr solid 4, assasin's creed. all those games have astonishing graphics. but which of the two systems would have hotter more realistic graphics versions. the 360 or the ps3?

Which system has better more realistic graphics xbox 360 or ps3?

the graphics are almost identical on both systems. It comes down to high def tv , both systems im sure look just as good

when played on 1080 i. You can go to gamespot.com and view the side by side comparisons they look the same, as for the games all the games you listed aside from Halo 3 and metal gear will be on both systems, they might say they are exclusive for ps3 but only for 6 months. GTA 4 will be out on 360 6 months earlier than PS3.

Which system has better more realistic graphics xbox 360 or ps3?

The PS3 def but the 360 is a way better system..Its not about the graphics it about the gameplay

Which system has better more realistic graphics xbox 360 or ps3?

Halo 3 is only xbox and MGS4 is only ps3 per their last announcement, so, other than that it goes game by game. Some say Sony while others say 360. I have both and I would say you are crazy if you can see the difference in games on both systems. I have tried a few on mine and they look identical.

Which system has better more realistic graphics xbox 360 or ps3?

well the ps3 is new but the 360 has better graphics

Which system has better more realistic graphics xbox 360 or ps3?

if you are looking for realistic graphics.. then I would say the xbox 360.. sony cant compare to the 360.. but that is just my opinion along with these other ppl.. everyone is going to say different.. but yea.. the ps3 does have good graphics dont get me wrong.. but the ps.. only has good graphics in the video part.. when it comes to gameplay its horrible.. and thats where the 360 comes in.. and its all about the gameplay =)

Can I reload graphics driver on 4 year old Athlon as crashes with icons going black and takes ages t

4 year old AMD Athlon, will be fine for a day then for no reason icons will go black it will crash and fatal error message will say NVidea graphics and mention reloading driver, it also seems to take longer to reboot than it used to.

Can I reload graphics driver on 4 year old Athlon as crashes with icons going black and takes ages to reboot?

Many computer experts recommend a hard drive reformat at least once a year. Reformatting the hard drive cleans out the Windows registry and removes any problem causing files.

Reformat the hard drive to return your computer to its original configuration. Reinstalling Windows and other applications after a hard drive reformat may repair previously unfixable problems.

Video capture card/graphics card, i'm confused?

can you buy graphics cards with built in video capture, are tv tuner cards built in with video capture, or are they a totally seperate card

Video capture card/graphics card, i'm confused?

There are graphics cards (video cards) that have capture capabilities - ATI's ALL-in-Wonder cards do both video output (to a monitor) and video capture from an external source (camcorder, TV cable box, video game console, etc).

In my experience, separate cards do a better job. If you've already got a computer with a pretty good video card all you need is a capture card to handle digital video recording.

Video capture card/graphics card, i'm confused?

You can capture video from a TV tuner card. ATI All in Wonder cards have both video capture and graphics capabilities built in to the same card.

Personally I would recommend getting a separate device for each function. It will be a lot cheaper in the long run and you can get exactly what you want for each function. You won't have to over buy or compromise in either area.

Video capture card/graphics card, i'm confused?

yes. go to compusa, best buy, circut city. also check yellowpages for computer shops.

Video capture card/graphics card, i'm confused?

You can buy something like a Hauppauge video capture card with a built in tv tuner at http://www.pcalchemy.com Just connect your cable line to the card and you can record, pause and watch live TV. Similar to the way dvr works through your cable company. The problem is these cards don't do HDTV yet. The cable companies are encrypting the HDTV channels so card manufacturers can't sell a generic all in one card yet. They're in the process of creating an adaptor that will accept each cable companies cards but they're not quite there yet. This is only if you want the card to tune the tv channels itself. If you want to tune the channel your self then you can just buy a standard video card with video in.

Video capture card/graphics card, i'm confused?

yes you can buy those card

Xbox-to-PC Graphics Card Exchange?

From your image I would say no. It depends on the type of motherboard that you have in your PC and what type of card that's in the XBOX. If the card in the xbox is integrated, you're out of luck. However, your graphic card slot on your motherboard will either be a (PCI, AGP, or PCI-Express). The graphic card in your xbox would need to fit one of those types of slots.

What is a graphics card and what does it do? Which one do i need?I is it easy to install?

I am not Pc minded.. I recently got Command %26amp; conquer and Supreme commander for my laptop (18 months old toshiba equium) neither works , someone told me i have to upgrade my graphics card do i do this myself or get a shop to do it. thanks for your help.

What is a graphics card and what does it do? Which one do i need?I is it easy to install?

Gamers take notice: Installing a new graphics card is one of the easier PC upgrades you can make. As PC games continue to get more complex (and more fun to play), you need a bigger, more powerful graphics card to push all those pixels. The latest cards from ATI and Nvidia deliver nearly cinematic effects. Once you decide on which card you want, it should take 45 minutes to 1 hour for you to be up and gaming.

Before you start, you'll need to gather these elements:

New graphics card

Phillips screwdriver

Antistatic wrist strap (optional)

Required attention span: 1 hour

Follow these four steps...

Step 1

Uninstall current graphics card drivers. Before you install your new card, you'll need to uninstall your current graphics card's drivers to avoid any potential conflicts. Right-click My Computer and select Properties. Under the Hardware tab, find the button to open the Device Manager. Your graphics card should be listed under the Display Adapter heading. Double-click the name of your graphics card to open a properties window for your current card. Still with us? We're almost there (it takes longer to describe the path than it does to actually click your way though it). Last step: Under the Driver tab, click the Uninstall button.

Step 2

Remove old card. Turn off your PC and unplug it from the wall. Open the case and locate the AGP slot--it's the brown-plastic slot typically found above the white-plastic PCI slots. Make sure you first ground yourself by first touching a metal part of your PC case or by wearing an antistatic wrist strap. (Grounding yourself will prevent you from getting shocked and from unintentionally damaging your PC's components.) If you are replacing a graphics card, you'll need to remove a small screw attached to the back plate prior to taking out the card.

Step 3

Install new card. It wouldn't hurt to page through your new card's instruction manual at this point. Then, take your new graphics card out of its foil wrapper and slide it into your motherboard's AGP slot. Press down firmly with even force until it is securely in place (your system won't boot up unless the card is in all the way). Screw it into the back plate and close up your case.

Sub-steps for physical installation:

A) The first step is to determine what type of graphics card you need for your system. Check with your computer manufacturer, vendor or motherboard manufacturer for compatible graphics cards.

B) After you determine the compatible video cards for your system you need to gather your tools. To install most graphics cards you will need a screwdriver that is not magnetized and a anti-static wrist strap. You can get anti-static wrist straps from most computer stores. Don't skip the anti-static wrist strap, a small shock that you would not even feel could destroy your new $500 graphics card. Be sure to follow the instructions with your anti-static strap.

C) Once you have your tools together, you will need to turn off your computer and remove the left side panel. The left side panel will be the one on your left if you are in front of your computer. Don't touch anything inside the case that you don't have too.

D) After removing the side panel lay your computer on its side and find the expansion slot you wish to use. Graphics and video cards are available for AGP slots, standard PCI slots, 1x PCI Express slots and 16x PCI Express slots. Be sure you have the correct card for your available expansion slot. Once opened most graphics cards are non-returnable unless damaged in manufacturing.

E) Once you locate the expansion slot you plan to use for your graphics card, you will need to remove the IO plate covering the slot on the back of your computer. The IO cover design will vary depending on your case design. Some are secured with screws or tabs, while others require you to twist them off.

F) Once you remove the cover from the expansion slot you want to use gently remove your video card from its box.

G) Once removed from its box you will be ready to plug your graphics card into the chosen expansion slot. Gently insert the card into the expansion slot and firmly press it into place. Most expansion slots have a retention mechanism to lock the card in place, however yours may not. Be sure to use a screw or other method to secure your card to the case where you removed the IO cover from the expansion slot you chose, there will be some method of securing your card to the case.

H) After installing your graphics card you need to verify if it requires power directly from your computers power supply. The instructions included with your video card will tell you if it requires its own power connector and if so what type. Newer PCI Express graphics cards often require special PCI Express power connectors. Most high end card manufacturers include adapters for use in systems without the correct plug for these cards.

I) Once you have your video card getting power, plug your system back in and turn it on before you put the side panel back on your case. You need to verify that the fan on your video card is working. You don't want improper connections or a bad $2 fan on your card to cause it to overheat and become damaged the first time you turn it on.

J) After verifying that the fan on the graphics card is working turn your system back off and reinstall the side panel.

K) Once the side panel is back on you are ready to connect your monitor to your graphics card an power up your system.

L) Once your system is on a running, you will need to install the correct driver for your graphics card. The driver will be included with your graphics card. However, the drive included with your graphics card could be a old version. You will want to update your driver from your video card manufacturer's web site.

M) Once you have updated your video card drivers, you are done! Congratulations, you installed your own video card!

Step 4

Install new drivers. Turn on your PC and install the drivers. Windows XP should automatically recognize the new hardware and walk you through the installation wizard. If Windows doesn't detect the card, click Settings from the Start menu. Open the Control Panel and click Add Hardware. From there, a wizard will help you install the new drivers from the CD that came bundled with your new card. It's a good idea to check the graphic card vendor's Web site for more up-to-date drivers, just in case the vendor has released drivers since manufacturing your card. Once you've downloaded the drivers, simply restart your PC. Now, you're ready to start gaming.

What is a graphics card and what does it do? Which one do i need?I is it easy to install?

It's a laptop. You can't upgrade it. Slap that "someone".

What is a graphics card and what does it do? Which one do i need?I is it easy to install?

A graphics card is a bit like an independantt proccessor which sorts all the graphical info for your pc, basically anything you see on your screen comes from the graphics card. And you can install it yourself if you know a bit about hardware.

What is a graphics card and what does it do? Which one do i need?I is it easy to install?

A graphics card is what allows you to play games with high quality animations in one sense. Dont do it yourself, hire someone who knows what theyre doing because with a bad card or no card, even going on the internet looks weird. You need one compatible with your porcessor.. Look under your computer specifications by bringing up your start menu and click run then type in dxdiag and that will tell you what kind of card you have, your processor type, how much memory you have everything. this will indicate which card may be compatible with your computer

What is a graphics card and what does it do? Which one do i need?I is it easy to install?

If your new I would say leave well clear off upgrading.

Try what is.com for a definition web site

What is a graphics card and what does it do? Which one do i need?I is it easy to install?

Since you didn't list the model of your Toshiba Equium. It is hard to search out the Spec's for it to see if it is upgradeable. Your best bet is to contact Toshiba directly and ask about a video card upgrade, what is available for your specific model.

Laptops in general, were not made for the "Gammer" in mind. You might want to start thinking about a desktop system if you wish to play high-end games.

Good Luck

How do I find out what graphics card I can use? EXACTLY!?

I already know my computer uses Integrated Graphics. I have everest home edition and I still don't know what I can put in. When I opened the case I saw a black slot with the word PCI-e over it, but when I looked at a pci-express graphics card there are more plugs that you have to put in as well. Please help, Thanks

How do I find out what graphics card I can use? EXACTLY!?

the easiest way is to take your pc to a GOOD pc shop, they can see what card you can use in a flash.

How do I find out what graphics card I can use? EXACTLY!?

the trick to using PCI-Express cards is the number directly after the "PCI-E". You could have a PCI-E x1, x4, or x16 slot. That number on your motherboard with correspond with the one on the graphics card you are buying. If you have a PCI-express x16 slot, buy the same graphics card. Also remember this,

"A PCIe card will physically fit (and work correctly) in any slot that is at least as large as it is (e.g. an x1 sized card will work in any sized slot), and a slot of a large physical size (e.g. x16) can be wired electrically with fewer lanes (e.g. x1 or x8) as long as it provides the power and ground connections required by the larger physical slot size." (Wikipedia).

Hope this helps you out a little

256MB or 512MB graphics card?

Hey all, i plan on putting together a computer this summer and am looking to spend about $1600 on the works (monitor and all). I want to know what kind of graphics card to get. I want to be able to play some good FPS on my computer. Looking to get by on $250 or less for a vid card, and need some help. Thinking about getting this one, but not sure

Any suggestions?

256MB or 512MB graphics card?

The 1650pro is garbage, especially at that price.

I would suggest nothing lower than a Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb.

256MB or 512MB graphics card?

first of all, go to newegg.com, they have awesome prices on computer parts, especially if you are building one from scratch. i just built one of my own, and for the tower, spent about $500 for a computer that would sell for $1000 retail, easy. on your question, why not spend the extra $50 or so for something that you will not regret buying? you can always enjoy a good graphics card, but if you get a less-than decent one, you'll regret it.

256MB or 512MB graphics card?

For the same money get at least the 512MB, I'd go bigger. Don't cut yourself short. I have a 1G %26amp; there is plenty of room for more graphics. Are you going with GForce, or something? Remember if your saving lots of pictures go big. There will be a ton of graphics on your computer just from the manufacturer %26amp; it'll take a ton of time figuring where they go to. That means trying to figure which ones can be deleted %26amp; really will not mess anything up, like programs.

256MB or 512MB graphics card?

I will 3rd the 8800GTS. I recently bought one and could not be happier. I did not want to spend the money on a GTX and thought this was a great alternative. Depending on when you get the components it may be in your price range by then. Now you will be spending mid 300's to mid 400's on one. This is one great card.

Fuuny myspace animated graphics?

animated pictures on the internet come in "gif" files. you may have heard of jpeg pictures. Gif pictures are another kind of image, but it can be animated.

You can search for certain types of gifs, then when you find one you want, you can save it to your computer, and upload it like you would any other myspace photo.

My myspace is http://www.myspace.com/theoneandonlymike

You can see that I made my own animated image for my picture. I also have my background image as an animated gif that turns from blue to green and back. I can probably make something for you if you want.

Which has better graphics NBA LIVE 08 or NBA 2K8 for PS3?

Which has better graphics NBA live 08 or 2K8?

Which has better graphics NBA LIVE 08 or NBA 2K8 for PS3?

I bought NBA Live 08 when it came out, but all my friends were playing 2K8. Live has better close ups of players, meaning the cut scenes are amazing. The overall basketball physics seem a little exaggerated though. Now as far as 2K8 graphically its not eye candy like Live, but game play is smooth and feels like you're actually playing, and watching a real game. I ended up selling Live back to Gamestop because everybody wanted to play 2K8. Personally that's a much better buy. Good Luck

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

I own a wii, and i really like it. I actually didn't think the graphics were that much different than the other systems but i recently have played a few 360 games and there is a noticeable difference, in time can the wii graphics ever become closer to where its not such a big difference, i know they'll never be totally the same.

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

Well, in some games, the graphcs actually are noticeably better, but yes, Nintendo Wii graphics can improve. That's what's great about hooking it up online. Nintendo sends any system updates straight to your Wii. If they ever develop an update that will allow future games to use enhanced graphics, they'll send it straight to you and you'll download it. If you bought an N64, you'll remember that you could buy an Expansion pack you insert into the front compartment, or some games (Zelda: Majora's Mask) actually came with one, and a lot of games had a feature in the options menu that would detect if you had the expansion pak, and it would enhance the graphics. It was pretty cool.

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

Well in time the game developers will learn to squeeze the most out of the available hardware much as they had to with the N64, but the Xbox and PS3 will always have the edge because they are more powerful systems, the same rule applies to them, the graphics for both can still be improved to a point. Wii was never meant to compete in that way which was why it is so much more affordable.

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

of course not for the games already out there but for the newer games it will slowly over time

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

Yes. Via Wiiconnect24, they will be able to issue a system upgrade of the graphics, similar to what they did with Everybody Votes Channel, News Channel, and the Weather Channel

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

im very sorry but if u have obtained a wii u will not be satisfied the graphics which arnt as good as a ps2...the game with the best graphics on a wii is POKEMON BATTLE REVOLUTION which is a last minute tax cash in for nintendo a total waste of money go to any review site they'll tell u also if u ever get the chance get a ps3 GET IT unless ur a fan of the xbox360 and u would have to get an elite for a better experiance....but ps3 comes factory blu ray xbox360 elite dont and theyere same price

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

you can by an HD adapter if you have a HD tv I bought one and it really improved the way the games look, it best works on zelda

all you have to do is stop by best buy, or check ebay.

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

To a point, because the Wii's HARDWARE (i.e. memory, graphics processing CPUs) is simply not as capable of rendering and reproducing the number of pixels and polygons as the PS3 and XBox 360. This is certainly NOT a gaming system for people who desire top-rate grapics.

As someone else noted programmers will do their best to squeeze every bit of life out of the system, and software system updates may also improve the efficiency of the Wii, but there is just a physical limit.

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

they are currently better than the gamecubes that is why they had to make the disk bigger

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

i believe they will.

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

If you look at early PS2 and PS2 games that came out near the release of the PS3 the graphics are noticebly different (with the latter being much better).

Is it possible for the wii graphics to ever improve?

Yes they will improve if you've seen super Mario Galaxy,Super smash bros., and mario kart they look amazing

What kind of graphics card do i need?!?!?!?!?!?!?

hey i was wondering what kind of graphics card i need for these game

(1) knights of the old republic

(2) knights of the old republic 2, the sith lords

(3) star wars battle front 2

(4) star wars force cammander

(5) garrys mod

(6) star wars episode 1 racer

and thats it, please answer this!!

p.s my computer is a "windows xp home edition"

What kind of graphics card do i need?!?!?!?!?!?!?

If you're just running those games, and you have no knowledge about computers at all, I'm going to assume that your computer isn't top of the line and probably has an older motherboard with an AGP 8x Slot. I would recomend either an nVidia 7800GS 256mb or an ATI Radeon x800GTO 256mb, make sure they are AGP. When you install them, make sure you don't use the graphics drivers that they come with, go to http://www.omegadrivers.net/ and find the appropriate drivers, these drivers are way better than the drivers the video cards come with, they will enhance your games way more.

What kind of graphics card do i need?!?!?!?!?!?!?

hard to say since all you told us was you run XP home... we would need to know what type of expansive slot (AGP vs PCI-E x16) you have... among several other things... sorry, can't help without more info

What kind of graphics card do i need?!?!?!?!?!?!?

ATI brand or NVIDIA brand PCI-X (pci express), minimum of 256mb onboard RAM. Preferrably 512 for better performance. You cant go wrong.

MMO with amazing graphics. Know any?

Online PC game with realistic graphics.

Thanks.

MMO with amazing graphics. Know any?

Your title says MMO with amazing graphics. Your question says PC game with realistic graphics. So im going to give you 2 answers: MMO i would go with Lord of the Rings: Shadow of Angmar. But for the most insane graphics out there you need to play Crysis. Only get this game if you have a machine that can run it! It will take most systems to the grave! Go to youtube and watch some vids on Crysis, you'll see what I mean.

Want to upgrade graphics card on HP pavilion a1616n. can someone help me find the right one?

Graphics card of right now: Radeon Xpress 200( yeah, its horrible)

Want to upgrade graphics card on HP pavilion a1616n. can someone help me find the right one?

Your ATI chipset supports PCIe.

If you have a x16 PCIe graphics slot on your motherboard:

Cheap option: Geforce 8400GS

Better option: 8500GT

Great : Factory overclocked 8600GT

The expensive monster cards would also require you to upgrade/install an expensive power supply.

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

My mums boyfriend has agreed to buy me a new graphics card provided its under $150 because he doesnt see the point in buying a Nvidia GeForce 8800 ultra for $1,000 or however much its worth any way if I could get some suggestions that'd be great.

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

probably an 8600gt if u shop around ...

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

I need to know what graphic card slot you have ... sort of if its AGP or PCI express, if its AGP get a 6800 nvidia it will prob. cost like $100, if its pci express get an 7900 it should cost about the same.

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

go to newegg.com you should be able to find one there that fits your needs and price range.

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

definitley Radeaon

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

BFG GeForce 6600 GT OC is the best, even better than the 7000 series. In SLI it would rock some of the 8000's. It costs about $85 if you can find one. Ebay has a few listed usually.

(I refer BFG brand because of their lifetime support offer and because their tech support is decades ahead of every other company!)

EDIT: I stand by this post. Buy what you like, then just for kicks, get one of these and run them through some tests and see for yourself how the 6600 performs.

As for an AGP dx10 card?! First off, dx10 is a hoax compliments of MS. According to them cards have to be certified to run DX 10 but when I installed Vista on one of my computers, every video card I installed, from the GeForce MX 400 up through the 8800 GTX all listed the DX as 10.

Again, for the money you want to spend, 6600's are your best bet -- especially for AGP!

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

you search that in www.google.com

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

ghowriter wtf are you smoking. 6600GTs are outdated and cant keep up, sure back then they were great, but now they are not ideal.

http://www.directron.com/x19pred256m.htm... - X1950 Pro PCI-Express

http://www.directron.com/pvt73audf3.html - 7600GT if you have AGP 8X, sometimes you can get an X1950 Pro for AGP as well, but for like $160 I think

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

8600GT is the best bang for the buck.

I suggest the 8600GT Fatal1ty series.

If not get a 7900GS Extreme.

All of those are the best cards for around that price.

Whats the best graphics card for under $150?

i'd go with anything made by nvidia, i've bought 3 cards from visiontek and they all had problems. i would never trust a card from them again
