The issue isn't so much with the card itself, as it is with the software drivers for the card.

In order for any hardware company to make drivers specifically for Apple, they have to have Apple's approval...which sometimes cost quite a bit of time and money. Whereas with PC base computers (that includes Linux OS) you don't need the PC or operating system's permission to make drivers.
