How do i correctly update my graphics driver?

Please list the correct steps I need to take to remove an outdated graphics driver and install an updated driver.

I have RADEON 9200

How do I remove it and, how do I install the update that I have downloaded? What are the steps?

How do I go get the update and how do I actually install it?

If the update install causes problems with my graphics, I'd like to be able to go back and re-install my old (current) driver. How do I do this?

If you are running windows, use windows update. It is supposed to let you know if and when a new driver becomes available. The Radeon 9200 has been out quite a long time, odds are you have the latest driver all ready.
