What kind of graphics do I need for Sims 2?

I am planning on getting a new computer, and I want to buy sims 2 to go along with it. So I have been looking online and I've noticed the most PCs at bestbuy etc. come equiped with NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics and I was wondering if this is enough to make sims 2 run nice and smoothly. I need help asap!!!

What kind of graphics do I need for Sims 2?

yeah its enough, sims2 is an old game and it runs good even with 5200FX so youre gonna be fine with 6150SE anyway i recommend you get a better VGA cause youre gonna have problems with other games or some heavy applications

Need help with graphics CARDS!?!?

Im planning to buy a new graphics card, yet i focused on 2 cards. On is the Radeon X1300 256mb and the Geforce 7600 512mb. Im willing to spend on both, but a bit cheaper would be nice. Is the Geforce really worth the extra buck then the x1300. Btw their agp.

Need help with graphics CARDS!?!?

I bought a x1300 and had to keep all settings on low to say the least.I repair computers for a living and ati cards run to hot and are not driver friendly.I took back the x1300 and bought a 7800gs o.c. and can play any game on high settings. You will be disappointed if you do buy the x1300 and even though the x1950 is the fastest agp out there I would not trade in my card.I thought about it but I read the reviews and 3Mark benchmarking doesn't lie.GDDR3 is a big difference over GDDR2.It is not so much the amount of ram but the core speed and mem speed.Good luck

Need help with graphics CARDS!?!?

I've owned both ATI ( Radeon ) %26amp; Nvidia ( Geforce ) cards %26amp; I can honestly say I've had better luck with ATI. Here's a link for you. As you can see you can get a 512 m X1650 for about the same price as the 7600. Some will argue but it is a better card.

Some what cheap graphics card?

From what i heard my computer is decent , And i was going to upgrade my card , to and nvidia 7600gs , i believe it was.. Is that good?

From what I Heard Nvidia is much better than ATI.

The most im willing to spend would be about 140$

Current games I Play are about PlanetSide.

And i might try out Star Wars Galaxies , And warrock

Will I Be able to play those games on MAX settings with no lag or barely any at all with a graphics card in the 100-140$ price range?

Some what cheap graphics card?

It depends on the game. The 7600GS is a mid-range video card and should play all games. At max settings though, not likely. You would want the 7900 or higher.. or the ATI equivilent

Some what cheap graphics card?

Check newegg.com and sort by price and find the one with the best reviews

Some what cheap graphics card?

Nvidia is definitely better than ATI. If you have the ability to purchase a refurbished one, I would go that route. Fry's Electronics (if you have on in your area) has them for virtually nothing. Also, try googling refurbished computer hardware. I did it with several key pieces in my computer and have had no problems.

Some what cheap graphics card?

Nvidia is no better than ATI, this is all a matter of opinion. You should get the card that has the best performance at the price you are looking at. A $100-$140 card will play those games at high settings, but probably not max settings. As for a specific card, you did not specify PCI Express or AGP, so I can't give you a specific one, the 7600GS is good, although if I knew which interface I could probably recommend something better. Email me with that info and I can be of more assistance.

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

I have a Sony Laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon for it's Graphics card, and I was wondering if there was anyway to use an external solution for a better graphics card. I've heard there are some PCI slot cards or something, but really I don't know too much about them. Thanks in advance.

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

Hi there, unless your system comes with the discrete card on the board, such as a lot of Dell systems do, then you couldn't upgrade the Video that way (which you already know). As for PCMCIA cards, I know of Video Capture cards for camera's and such, I'm just not aware of any graphic solutions for portables (and couldn't find anything on google).

A PCI video card is only for desktop systems.

Sorry, wish there was better news, Good Luck!

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

Generally you cannot upgrade the graphics card on a laptop. It's built-in to the motherboard.

Desktops have PCI slots. Laptops do not.

Sorry.

Can you Upgrade a Notebook's Graphics Card?

Citizen is correct. However, just to add to his answer: Some of the very high end boutique laptops, like Alienware, have separate video modules. However, those are built specificly for those models, and would not fit in anything else. The truth is, Alienware didn't make them, it's made somewhere in Taiwan and Alienware just put their name on it. Same laptop could show up in a different name elsewhere.

Looking for new Graphics card need help?

I have a Geforce 6100 nvidia card i want a new card and i know that i if i upgrade to a 8600 or something i would need more power for my Computer. But what is PCI mean it says that on my computer "PCI express slot avaliable" and what else should i know before buying my first graphics card?

Looking for new Graphics card need help?

The power supply for your computer has to provide power to all the different internal parts. The most powerful the video card the more electricity (power) it will need from the power supply.

To actually work for your computer it has to be able to connect on the inside. Video cards hook up in one of 3 ways. 1) PCI which is a very old standard. 2) AGP which is a newer but still outdated standard. 3) PCI-e which is the current standard. All 3 have a different shape slot so if your motherboard has an AGP slot no other one will fit.

The 8600 does require a fair amount of power but if power from the power supply is a problem perhaps you should look at the 8400. The 8400 will still outshine the 6100 in a huge way and only requires a 300 Watt power supply on your computer.

But you 1st have to know if your motherboard is AGP or PCI-e. Easiest to do if you have the manual.

If you have AGP then none of the 8000 series boards will fit and you will be stuck with a 7600 or 7800/7900 as best boards you can use.

You have a PCI-E slot, which means your computer will support all 8x00 cards. Also, make sure you have enough juice for the cards. You'll need 2 PCI-E 6 pin power connectors for the 8800s, 1 for the 8600GTS (and GT, maybe). Have fun.

On a Trust Graphics Tablet, is there a way to set the drawing space?

I have a Trust Graphics tablet, but I want to use the whole tablet for just a certain area on the PC. If I go to the settings, I can set the working area, but I cannot set the space I want to draw in. How do I do this?
